Using the last example of you being the original raiser and the all in calling your raise, then I definitely would have to bet there to protect my hand as well. I guess to clarify the scenario I would refer to is, player 1 goes all-in and 2 others just call. In this scenario you wouldn't be calling with a pocket pair. If you had a pp in this scenario then you should be shoving or at least raising to get player 1 heads-up.
