I assume Dtown is Detroit. There are few tracks around you up there. As with on-line poker, there is this site I found that appears to accept bets from home. I've just never trusted a midget slapping the ass of a horse while expecting me to wager money on it. And when you do win at the horses, rarely do you hit a big return (over 5:1 odds). Midgets can help decide the outcome, and that's a fact. But at the dogs, people have been prosecuted for drugging the dog to make sure it didn't win. Personally, I prefer giving my dog speed so it runs faster, after, of course, I've tried it first to make sure it works. I just discovered that two of our tracks closed here in Colorado last year, and five nationally. Small horse tracks are experiencing the same fate. I'm not sure whether it is bad marketing, or the way we, the public, want to spend our leisure time nowadays. Rhode Island seems to have it right. They have their casinos located at the dog tracks. I surmise they will survive just fine. People love the slots. But when your whole state is only three blocks long, finding an empty lot for a new casino might be a challenge. |

Southland park in West Memphis, Arkansas ( a dog track) decided to add a casino with those "Poker Pro" tables so that the track wouldn't shut down. Now they have renovated and made the place a lot nicer with the new revenue. So it should be here to stay for the time being which is good because i loved to bet on dogs while I am playing in the poker room! But i don't live in Memphis anymore being out of grad school now so I wont be going down there much if any in the next couple of years. Oh well... Here comes Rusty... |

| Most OTB sites have dog racing from Florida and Arizona on a daily basis. Dog racing can be a money maker if you happen to have the long-shot come in with your bet. The last winner I had at the horse track paid $2.80 to win. What a waste of time. If that were pot odds, would you bet $500 on it?
