Hey Lady....
You have a good point about our technology and your right to a certain point, but you medicine and horses legs just dont mix to well.
Let me ask you all....Has anyone ever seen a 3 legged horse?? You havent why you might be asking yourself, cause you have seen other animals and humans lose limbs and survive.
Well the answer is your dealing with a very sensitive animal that depends on its legs for everything. Also this is a 1300 lbs + animal....a horse can not survive on their own with 3 legs they wouldnt be able to stand and would have to be in some kind of therapy swing. If a horse lays down for long periods of time due to illness it will just get worse with other illnesses setting in.
Horses digestive system also relys on the leg movement, which helps the digestive system work. I know this sounds crazy, but their digestive system is one of the most sensitive thing in a horse besides their hoofs.
If a horse again lays down for to long the digestive system will start to shut down again cause more health issues. Now back to the 3 legged horse if there ever was one their legs would swell and eventully give out beneath them for they will not support that much weight.
OK I know you peeps probley think I am a little looney by now, but I have been a horse owner my entire life and I breed and train horses as a part time living.
Here is a thought to ponder on......think of the size of a horse and how small the legs are when getting down to the hoof which is like a fingernail to us. A besst comparsion that I can come up with is a ballerina with no toenails trying to dance.....Think about that...........do some research reading and come back to this thread and reply.
