Default 2006 Kentucky Derby

The current Favorite is Lawyer Ron at 7-1. The horse that i like right now is Discreet Cat at 15-1 that could be a steal. A few other horses to watch is First Samuri at 12-1, A.P. warrior at 15-1 and Superfly at 75-1. If anyone else here follows horse racing I would love to hear your knowledge on the Derby. Right now is a sweet time to put your picks in as the odds are awsome!!!

Also I have a buddy that likes Henny Hughes at 75-1 guess that isnt a bad bet. A $2 bet would get you $150+.(if you pick he to win)

thanks for the tips!! havent been paying much attn to the early pre derby races. I live on the outskirts of Saratoga.... The August place to be..home of the Travers stakes and Funnycide!!! Saratoga is a town rich in gambling tradition and a beautiful race course to boot. We also have the harness track and Racino right next to the flat track.

We have been to Saratoga, it is awesome....we were their for the Travers Stakes a couple years ago when Ten Most Wanted won it. That is a very cool place to be. My favorite pick right now is Stevie Wonderboy....but I am not seeing his name anywhere, he must be hurt. He was a lock at the Breeders Cup last year, and should have been a derby favorite. It looks like most of the pro cappers like Brother Derek.

Well Its Preakness Day.. I had picked Barbaro after reading about him in USA Today. Unfortunately, I never made it to OTB to place my bet!! By the time I remembered it was too late to get back down to Albany. There isnt a local OTB in my town because Im on the outskirts of Saratoga race course and OTB's have to be at least 15 miles or so I believe from the actual facilites (so as not to take away from track attendence I reckon).

The good news the Racino at the Harness track is set to expand. Its pulling in lots of revenue. More slots but alas no table games. The Old Canfield Casino is now used for Weddings and events.

Will we have a Triple Crown Winner in 2006??

Yea, I think we will have a Triple Crown winner this year. Barbaro looks VERY tough. But so did Real Quiet, Smarty Jones, Charismatic, and War Emblem. You never know, But I think Barbaro could be the one.
