 Live play
The only live play I've ever been in was at someones house party..lol... I was just reading another post about a ladies training camp coming up which sounded cool, but expensive..so that's definately out..lol I live near the Niagara Falls casino and have only been there once. All I did was play some slots and eat at the Giant buffet...lol... I felt too nervous (and broke) to play at the poker tables. I'm not sure if I ever will. I love playing online and seem to be good at "reading" internet players (if I'm paying attention). It would be interesting to play a live tournament to see if I could pick up on any tells. I can have a pretty good poker face myself from what I've been told at home poker games. Nobody ever seems to know what I have, so maybe someday I'll take the step to live play at a casino...

You use a card protector to keep your cards from being accidently mucked.. you can loose a good hand that way... If nothing else, use the smallest domination chip from your stack.. If some tosses their cards and their card touches yours and it isnt proctected.. they can and usually muck your cards... Be safe and smart...

Dont just keep your cool at the table. I took an awful beat once live.. Guy hit a 2 outer on the river.. that was bad enuff.. I left the table, went to the bar, had a drink, a smoke, and walked back to the rail to watch my friend, who was still in.. This guy walks to the rail and says : Are you still mad at me? I shrugged and said, that is poker.. I said, but I dont understand how you stayed in the hand, knowing you had to be dominated, with my bets and reraises. His response.. "DEAR" I put my chips in the pot just like you did. " Talk about going ballastic.. All I could do was walk off, before I got thrown out.. WTF did he think he was.. "DEAR" like I had no sense.. I laughed when he did it again and lost it all.  |

| Bad Beat
I took a bad beat today and my heart was pumping. I could not imagine being in that situation live! I would want to rip that guys head off. But like you said, thats poker!

| thinking about it
never played in live game except for fun ,,,,i live 65 miles from okla. border ( i live in Texas ) and they have 50+10 tournys. thinking about trying it out. i know this doesn't sound like a big deal but i'm on social security. not saying that i cant' afford it ,, cause i can but can't go very often,,, any tips??? thanks for the info about the protector never even thought about someones cards being mixed. anyway thanks |

winstar is at mile marker 1 over texas border on I35,,,,much closer than durant from ft.worth.....alto durant has 25 dollar tournys at midnight almost every night.,,,, what i don't think i would like about durant is you get extra chips in tourny if you play x amount of hours on other holdem tables before tourny. for a very low budget player like myself it would put a guy at a big disadvantage i can't play on 3 and 6 dollar tables for 3 or 4 hours.,,, now if i was a much better player,, no problem LOL at winstar,,, fifty dollar entry ( plus ten dollar entry ) and everyone starts w/ same amount of chips. anyway enough said. take care |
