Freerolls don't teach you patience. They do offer the chance to practice it, and thereby improve it. However, the two are not the same. The first implies passive learning; i.e. you play them and automatically become more patient. That's not likely at all, at least not for most people.

It has taught me to be patient in beating the Romanians...what do you think? I've played against you...

Personally I like freerolls. I don't really care if there are 2500-5000 other donkeys and, fish in it. I really cut my teeth in online poker at UB. I've even managed to win 3 open freerolls there beating 5000 other fish and, donkeys. Admittedly it did not profit me much money wise but, the experience has been priceless. I usually go out early or, I make the top 200. Today I finished 13th out of 2500+ and, qualified for a $1000 tourney Sunday.
If your looking for good freeroll action you can't beat sites on the Microgaming network, PokerTime, PokerHost and, Doyle's Room. They all have many freerolls each day with only one raked hand as a requirement. Usually PokerTime or, PokerHost will have atleast one open $500 freeroll no rake required every day as, well as WSOP quailfier freeroll tourneys. PokerTime has a $7000 freeroll every ten days and, with up to 600 places paid you stand to make a nice profit on your play. Doyle's quick draw tourneys are fun but, pretty much an all in fest.
Also you can find a freeroll on any of the Merge gaming network every four hours. Depending on which site you search Walker, Reefer, Red Star, Iron Duke or, Spin 32 you can find a NL, Horse, Omaha, or Badugi tourney.
Searching poker sites tourney list for private freerolls can also give you a leg up by playing in smaller tourneys with larger pay outs you can play less but, win more.

Gotta be careful putting notes about a player as calling station or ATC (any two cards) at freerolls though, because they may not play that way at all in a regular buyin.

I agree, If u sit long enough and only play quality hands then you can do well in the freeroles, the donks dont usually last too long.

I religiously play the Aussie freerole on fulltilt, its my favourite, plus i have been able to win it 3 times. Besides all the donks there r alot of very friendly ppl in them, alot of them r regulars too and u get used to playing with them everynight. So if i bust out early there is always a someone i know to cheer for.

I have recently begun focusing on freerolls to help build my bankroll. Most of the smaller freerolls have a bunch of real nice people on them. The larger ones do help in understanding how to play larger tournies for free. I too will be playing the UB $1000 freeroll on Saturday after going out 25th in a qualifier.
