Lightbulb Poker books

Be very careful!!! Try to pick a book that is written by someone who is similar to you in style and personality. If anyone could comment on who should pick what book by who, I would appreciate it. Frankly, for myself I feel that Dan Harrington is a fit for me. See you on the felt!!!

I read everyone's books to be well rounded. I like Phil Gordon's Little Green Book. That's the book that started me on my way!

I like Hellmuth's book on tells and Mike Caro's book on tells. Doyle's Supersystem is also pretty good.

Harrington's books make a lot of sense to me. Helmuth's book got me hooked on fixed limit poker for awhile. Supersystem is written kind of strange to me. I'm half way through it and just don't feel the urge to finish it.

Read Negreanu's new book. It was great. Especially loved his chapter on small ball and David Williams' chapter on Mixing It Up.

I don't believe that you should just stick to books that are the same playing style as you use. There are things you can pick up on here and there that might help your game out. Reading books with different styles can help think like your opponent or spark something that you've never thought of. Just because you read a book using a different style doesn't mean that you have to convert to that style.

I'm with you. I read a lot of people's books who have different playing styles than mine. I use each style according to whoever is at my table. Sometimes I play small ball poker like Daniel Negreanu and sometimes I play tight aggressive like Herrington and sometimes I like to play any two cards like Gus Hansen and David Williams.
