I was thinking more along the lines of KQ, with him holding KJ.. You did have him dominated, but a hand like JJ can stand up on its own. Regardless of how dominated your hand had him, it needed to improve. Especially in Omaha.

Still the correct call if you make it and see his hand, but not a hand I'd like to call of my stack with if I'm not desperate.
I agree with the last part, but the way I had been playing, if I didn't play that hand, I might as well have sat out. I'd been folding ALOT of hands and playing pretty tight, and decided that 4 connecters with a flush possibility was good enough to make a stand.

Whatever. I got it in good (relatively speaking)

I've just started revisiting some of the older strategy posts because I really want to start expanding my horizons by playing other games that are supposed to be really profitable online. This one is loaded with great tips. Thanks guys!

I also want to make a comment regarding GKs Omaha hand discussed above. If there is one thing that I have learned over the last couple of weeks it would be that I refuse to put my entire stack at stake preflop without holding AA. The one exception to this rule is being in short stack survival mode. I would much rather see a cheap flop and outplay someone after the flop than push it all in preflop on a coin flip.

Default Omaha/8 point count system

Hi Rounders,

Q: Does anybody use a point count system to find out, how good the hole cards work together? If so, which one (I found different methods in the net) and where can I find it?
I read about a point count system developed by Mike Caro. Any experience with it?

Thanks for answering

Haven't heard of it, but sounds like something I would be very interested in. I'll let you know if I find anything.

Omaha hi/lo is the game that got to me to quit my job and play for a living.

It is ridiculously easy to make a profit if you can find the loose/passive games with 5+ players seeing a flop. You can essentially nut peddle the crap out of people and get paid off, because the donkeys are calling two bets cold chasing the 3rd nut low or paying off with a straight on a flush and paired board, etc.

To get started I just recommend Daniel Negranues section in Super System 2. It will give you the fundamentals necessary to beat low limit Omaha hi/lo games (or any loose/passive game for that matter).

As you move up in stakes or begin to play short-handed games and aggression levels rise, you won't be able to nut peddle as much. So I'd recommend Mike Capelleti's book on Omaha hi/lo split.

You may need to read it 2-3 times for all the more advanced concepts to sink in, but it's worth the time invested.

I regularly play 5/10-15/30 online multi-tabling, but have gone as high as 50/100 online.

and live I usually play 20/40-40/80, and I've tried 75/150 once. Live games tend to be a lot softer than online ones, but you don't get as many hands per hour, you pay a higher rake and you don't get rakeback. So some things to consider.

A good Omaha hi/lo player can earn 3-5bb/100 hands or /hr compared to a good limit hold em player who might win 1-2bb in the same timeframe.
Which site are you playing?

I love this game, either way. High-lo or just high. There is a strategy to both. To play high only you really should play your position, high pairs and suited high cards. In high-lo you really should play small suited connectors and always see the flop with Ace, 2 any suit. As for pre-flop raising you must be careful because more than any other game the flop will determine the outcome of the pot. You can have the worst cards and end up with the nuts after the flop. I know you can do this with hold em as well but you have 2 more cards in this game! Be careful of the number of players as well!
