I've been hearing a lot about Razz lately. Got some advice for a newbie? Starting hands? When to chase vs. when not to? Anything? Thanks.
3 main rules for razz:
1. Don't slow play
2. Don't slow play
3. Don't slow play

If you have the best hand, bet it. Also, play YOUR cards alot less. If you have a hand like (KQ)A, and the lowest card showing otherwise is a 7, complete it. Then, if you still have the best hand showing on 4th, and your opponent catches a card like a 9 or T, bet again.

Don't chase as much. However, if it's 5th street, and you have a hand like (37)A49, peel 6th. At this point, you're the favorite to make the best hand. Also, there is another big rule you'll want to commit to memory. That's the "2 brick-fold" rule. Basically, if you're in a hand, and you get two "bricks" (any card that pairs you or is between 9-K, and on later streets 8-K), fold. At this point, you'd need runners to make your hand, which is unlikely.
looks like I won't be looking to pick up the game at all anytime soon at least
Yeah, slowplaying in razz will kill you. You NEVER want to give your opponent an opportunity to beat you.
Checked Razz out on play money... not bad and quite different I do have to say. I'm mainly playing on Absolute right now and want to check it out in micro limit's but there is hardly anyone on in sng's and cash tables :( so I MIGHT have to check it out on another site.

razz players suck at really every level. There are some players who REALLY know how to play, but most of them flat out suck.

This is either a bad joke or you posted the wrong hand. This hand has you folding on third street.

When playing a razz tourney, be sure to watch the patterns of other players to identify the ones that don't fold a draw. Some players will stay in to the river when they have 4 low cards even if they brick two cards or are drawing to a 9 or 10 low. Don't bet to bluff out these players if you have a bad card in the hole, and bet every street when it is obvious you will get paid off on your made low.

thats always good advice... My favorite thing about razz and 7card stud is the ability to change my style of play up almost every hand.. Keep everyone guessing.. i can go from crazy raisers to being able to trap someone the very next hand... From what i have noticed about the 2 games is sometimes checking is alot more profitable than betting... For instance... In razz ur showing an A 5 and with a 2 3 under... and the other person has 2 J... with such a powerful hand ill ussually check and let them percieve that i dont have it, now this always leaves an opportunity that ill get screwed or he will hit the nuts. but sometimes thats a chance worth taking rather than scooping a pot of just the blinds...
