Reason I asked is because opponent claimed 8-8 after he folded.

Can you get away from this hand? I'm down to 16 in a live MTT bar tournament. Top 5 cash. I'm on the button first hand at a new table. I only know one person and how they play. Blinds are 400/800

UTG (tourney leader) normal raise to 2400
Pos 4. 7400 all in reraise
Pos 5. around 14K left just calls
Pos 6. FOLDS
Button (ME) 7800 left and dealt AA What to do here?

Post your thoughts then I will tell you my decision and the outcome.

well obviously your already in the lead.

You commit your stack.
Chip leader folds.
Other guy only has to call 400. so he calls.

Seat 4 has somethin around AK, or Jacks.
Seat 5 has AK.

Not quite what happened.

I was seriously thinking of folding because of the multi-way pot, but greed got the best of me.

UTG (tourney leader) normal raise to 2400
Pos 4. 7400 all in reraise
Pos 5. around 14K left just calls
Pos 6. FOLDS
Button (ME) 7800 left and dealt AA I'm all in.
SB folds
BB calls What?!!
UTG calls
Pos 5. calls

Flop JQJ At this point I figure I'm totally screwed, someone probably has a J or flopped a boat.
BB all in What?
UTG calls
Pos 5. calls

Turn rag
check, check

River rag
check, check

You ready for this?

BB KQo She flopped top pair K kicker in a multiway 2 all in preflop hand and shoves. What?!

UTG AK No way I am still in a multiway hand with 2 all ins and 2 callers preflop with AK.

Pos 4. TT I can totally see her move making sense completely.

Pos 5. QQ I am reraising all in trying to thin the field with QQ in this spot, but of course he flopped the nuts so it worked out for him taking down the entire pot and dusting 3 players on one hand.

Two ways to approach the beginning of a MTT

1. Sit back and wait...

2. Come out firing...

does any 1 have Cardplayer?

this was featured on p.70 of the Daniel N. cover!

Basically, whats your strategy for early, middle, and late stages. I usually always make it like an hour or so into the tourny. From this point I usually donk my stack off or actually end up making it to the money and getting out quickly. I never can seem to last in most big MTT tournys. Even my record in SNG's that are over 45 people is horrible. Cash games, I usually own them til I go on tilt(yea...i just keep doing it). It just seems like my game doesn't translate to TOurnys. I don't know why but I wanna get better. Whats the best way to practice??
