All-ins are often coin flips. Try to avoid them them unless you are short-stacked. Calling that all-in with A-K almost certainly made it a coin flip unless he had 2 undercards which even then only makes you a 3-2 favorite.
The lower the two cards, if they are connected the better odds your opponent has because your two cards don't affect his straight draws. Playing against a maniac is always tough for sure. If you get in with the best of it you will win in the long run though. Just avoid this early on in the tourney.
