If in late position you have a better read on what the other players have so you can strech them a little further. High connectors....ten and above...have more power pre-flop and can be bet aggressively. Again, use position in determining strength. Remember that suited does not mean gold, so don't overbet either.
Very well stated. Since all suited connectors have 22 outs associated with them pre-flop, this count goes down dramatically after the flop if your suit is missing. Then, if you're sitting with a four card straight, you only have an 18% of hitting it.

And I assure you, we have all fold a straight flush because of our board position.

suited connectors are the biggest money makers, those and small pairs, as the cards that can work togehter to make straights get further away from eachother the odds of making a straight go down, plus you really dont wanna hit a straight from the outside for example Q8 and the board hits 9 10 J, I have made a killing off of people with that hand when I have had QK. You alsoe have to devalue suited connectors below 67 as you have a better chance at the "ASS END" of the straight and that can get you into serious trouble. It so much easier to play suited connectors against an aggressive table then say, 99 or JJ cuz you will have much easier decisions once you get to see the flop.

I've probably won more hands with 2 3 or 3 4 suited than with pocket Jacks. Although, they are sometimes hard for me to get away from especially if I hit 2 pair on the flop. Recently in a freeroll tourney was playing 3s4s flop came
9s3d4h rainbow. It was checked to me I raised and all but one folded to me. I was re-raised I called. I had been in several pots with this opponent. He had been raising and re-raising with nothing or only top pair. Turn was 5h which was a little scary but, decided to take one more stab at it. Bet the pot and, was immediatly re-raised enough to put me all in. Thought about folding at this point but, felt pot committed. I was right he turned over 9d7d.
Thought I was about to finally cripple this guy til the 9 hit on the river.

Thats a good example of staying away from the really small connectors, because when you ahead your odds of losing are always still relatively high. See alot of losing boats with small cards like that as well.

I am very fond of suited connectors. 5-6 suited seems to be my lucky hand, actually. I feel better playing a small suited connector than just about anything else.

Suited connectors are very very situational. You need to take into account your implied odds as well as your pot odds. But when you learn to play the right... and when they hit! man does it feel good. suited connectors = ace crackers

well i think that many people think that if you have two middle cards then you will have a better chance of hitting something. (makes sense to them) but that is why i think they are not making consistant money because they are calling raises with like 89suited and flopping say two pair while the raiser is holding an over pair and say hit a pair on the board. there are many situations that you can go through but i think that without solid position they are crap.

I love to play the suited connectors and semi-connectors (J9s for example). If I get raised without hitting anything they're easy to get away from, and if you hit big it's easy to get alot of money. I personally like to limp in from late position witht them.
