i always bet them big cause i would rather just take down the blinds than to get donked holding them and if you slow play them or just try to string your opponent along you will be donked more times than not or at least i am. occationally if i am in early position i will try to limp in hoping someone will raise but it seems like 90% of the time its folded to the bb, he checks, and flop is something like 833 and of course he is holding the 3.

What do you think? Rockets (AA) are the best?
I like AK because if you dont hit the flop its easier to get away from!

i would definitely take AA over AK anytime. with AA your opponent has to make better than a pair to beat you and heads up that doesnt happen that often. the trick is to get only 1 person to call a big bet. if you dont bet enough and you have 4 people call you then most likely one of the 4 will catch 2pr or better and u will lose.

i guess its different for everyone, depending on how you play, which hand is the best starting hand for you...

Go all-in preflop and hope to crush the competition.

I like AA but you do have to be careful how u play them. But you will also have someone that will call you no matter how big you lead out. There are idiots that will call with anything and can wind up beating you.

I agree with a lot that has been said above, but having the knack for getting away from them when they are beat is key. Easy to say, hard to do! Only the best can get away from them.

This is the starting hand we are looking for when playing Hold’em. I believe the player should not be concerned about how much it might cost them when catching pocket AA but rather what maximum potential can the player get from the best starting hand there is. I believe there is different ways to bet or play your AA where the majority of the time you will come out the winner. I hear people say they get beat with AA all the time (most of us have had that pleasure) but most of the time we probably pushed all-in preflop or rode our AA to the river and just was not disciplined enough to throw it away. Sometimes laying down the second best hand or what we might think is a pretty hand can be tough at times. I believe I am in an on going process of grasping this knowledge and allowing it to work for me. Being disciplined enough to lay good hands down (second best) will no doubt in the long run improve our games and hopefully bankrolls!

If you're lucky enough to catch rockets, just be sure and raise enough (appropriate for the table) to push out all but one or two opponets. Otherwise, you're just asking for trouble!!
