Agreed. Stu Unger might be the greatest cash game player of the pre-modern era. Modern era, I'd say that someone NEEDS to make a cash game HORSE and hold 'em series to really tell. The amateurs have really changed the landscape of the game.

Default Stu Unger... common man

Too bad Stu Unger didn't play baseball... specifically for the Yankees. He'd be a celebrated national hero!

My money is on Doyle Brunson. What I like about him, and the other players that play in the "Big Game" in Vegas, is that he plays a bunch of games equally well. If you look at bracelet stats, you'll see that Hellmuth has won each and every one of his in some for of Texas Holdem, while Doyle has won his 10 in many different disciplines. On top of that, he's in his mid 70's, and still out there mixing it up and busting people daily. He stands the test of time in my book as the best....................... RIP Chip Reese

Its amazing his skills to read oponnents, he showed this in Wsop 2005 and this year, (he had 74, and oponnent K9, if i didnt forget, flop cames 876, he bet the guy call, hit 10) and he did again.

Another time AA vs Q10(negreanu) he read AA, (make a strange call).

For me he is the best.
I agree 100 % I just saw the replay of this last night. I would love to play with him. Just not with my money :P

The pro concencus I usually hear about is that the greatest all around player of all time is Chip Reese, and for all time Texas Hold'em dont see how anyone could pick anyone other than Doyle Brunson.

Obviously there is no best player really but you gotta respect Phil Ivey's all around game at least out of the players that you see day in and day out on TV. Phil Ivey is actually 31 years old.

Chip Reese the greatest all around player of all time... I think the best young player of the day is phil ivey i mean you can't go wrong with this guy.. Any game any table he is the favorite to win... But you gotta think anybody can be great for 6 days look at the longevity of a Doyle Brunson.. It's to many ppl!!:(
