Best overall of all time I'd have to go with Stu Ungar.

Chip Reese was without a doubt the best poker player all-time, event though he wasn't that known to the general public. His win in th 50k H.O.R.S.E. event really prooved he could beat all the bests in a good variety of games. The guy went to Vegas while he was a student, made 40k in one weekend and never looked back. If Doyle Brunson, who played all the top pro in the last 50 years, says he's the best, I'll take his word.

Right now, I think Hellmuth is the best tournament poker player as his record is they're to proove it, with Negreanu and Ivey right they're with him.

Paul Wasicka is only 22 or 23 I think... Really greats things lies ahead for him. (see other thread)

Default Ungar

Stu Ungar was the best ever plain and simple. It is a shame that his lifestyle lead to his early demise as well as kept him away from the felt for long periods of time. He is Definitely the Bobby Fisher of poker.

I wonder what Stuey would have been like without the drugs and booze... probably awesome. But then again... maybe crap. LOL!

Phil Ivey and Daniel Nagreanu are my picks.

Default best player live and dead are to me

Stu Unger by far has this catogory as the best ever, There no doubt in any poker pro,s mind he was the all time best ever 2 play the game!
Only man to win 3x wsop main event died at early 30,s.
If he lived to bedoyals age theres no doubtt that he have the most bracelets
ever probally over 20,
Even the most famous liked pro today the ambassador he should be to
pokler is the pokerkid danial Negranue quoted as saying if Stewie lived a better life he would of television coverage as today does,
He be most respected player to ever play the game.
The man now who is young still to watch 7 cashes last year tyeing the record is Paul wasika is upcoming strong player and getting better.
For today Every pro will say for the age Phil Iveys game is the best.

who can say. Do you go by bracelets? winnings? or entertainment value?
Phil Helmuth probably gets the ticket. He has bracelets, winnings and the very best TV dummy spits......lol

but for pure enjoyment you cant overlook Daniel Negreanu, Gus Hansen, Carl Mortansen, to name a few.

I could list a hundred players and I'd still miss a few. Thank god for TV because I would not get to see much over here in Aus
