Jamie Gold also hasn't represented half the actors he says he has.

Meh, James Gandolfini is cool enough. If you can represent him, you must be good.

Now that I have seen him play more on TV and heard some interviews with him, he's not such a bad guy. ESPN did a good job making him look like a real ass on TV, but they had the luxury of picking and choosing the few hands among the many that Jamie played throughout the tourney. He seems very down to earth and family oriented in real life. He doesn't really play like a donk as ESPN portrayed him during the WSOP.

I must agree with you Dierks. As much as I love ESPN and can not live without them, they are still a member of the media...and the media can be brutal.

They can really persuade people to feel a certain way about others. Like I said in my original post in this thread, the way he mind fucked people was brilliant. It turns out that a lot of it was against the rules and probably not very elegant, but he hustled some people pretty bad. He kinda made them look foolish...he's not the only poker player who does that.

Over all, I kinda think he was a dick at that tournament, but he seems like a decent guy and I think he learned a lot from that tournament...plus he got rich as hell.

And he did end up paying his friend half of his winnings...he said in an interview he was never NOT going to pay him. The media made it seem like he wasn't going to and his friend kinda over-reacted. But, he made good on his word. That's definitely respectable.

Yes, it was very respectable that he paid him. Wish I was that guy! I love talking people into doing what you want them to do at the poker table.

I bet ya at the time of that phone call he thought he didn't have a clue or prayer to win the ME. ESPN did show him off as a jackass. I don't know tho, he's been on High Stakes Poker that airs on GSN and doesn't come off as a jackass but more like an insecure school boy. It's hard to believe he used to work in the entertainment business as a manager or whatever. I still don't like him.

He still works in the entertainment business. He has his own company with partners. He splits time between that and poker.

Jamie Gold is a joke, sure he won a bunch of cash at the WSOP, but like its been said his cards were crazy and you'd only have to see this years and his early exit to realize that he just got lucky big time. Total example of the moneymaker effect in all its glory.
